Trees for Schools

Trees for Schools

The Trees for Schools program provides competitive grants to New Jersey public school districts, colleges, and universities to support tree planting projects on school and campus grounds. Grants range from $10,000 to $250,000 and cover planning, site preparation, tree planting, and maintenance for two years. Municipal governments can play an important role by partnering with schools on applications, helping identify planting sites, and offering in-kind support. Learn more by viewing the informational webinar and presentation available on the website.

Launched in 2023, the first round funded nearly 3,000 trees at 33 educational institutions across the state. This is the second grant cycle, applications are being accepted until Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
